About the Artist

[she/her]

JJ Typography is a self-taught digital artist renowned for her expertise in typography and illustration. A third-generation Filipina American πŸ‡΅πŸ‡, she was born and raised on Kumeyaay Land (San Diego, CA). Her passion for art ignited at a young age, as she began drawing on anything and everything she could get her hands on from the moment she was old enough to hold a pencil.

Utilizing tools like Procreate on her iPad and the Adobe Suite, JJ breathes life into her creations. Her artistic mission is to infuse vibrant colors and her heartfelt soul into every piece. As a professional, she seeks to leverage her skills to empower others by amplifying impactful messages through her bold aesthetic.

JJ's approach is deeply intuitive, shaped by her nostalgic affection for California street art and her time in San Francisco during her undergraduate years. Influenced by her artistically gifted family, her work often reflects elements of hip hop, social movements, ethnic studies, mental health, and self-love. She excels at transforming concepts into captivating digital art, blending her client's vision with her own unique style and originality.

JJ Typography currently resides in πŸ“San Diego, CA.

The Art of Becoming:

Self-Loving

I co-created a coloring workbook and it’s now available to purchase online!

Aside from her artistic endeavors, JJ is deeply committed to community service, drawing on her background in education and healthcare. Her experiences in these fields have instilled in her a profound sense of duty to her community. It was through this commitment that JJ came to view her artwork not just as a personal passion, but as an essential component of her life and professional mission.

Recognizing the power of art as a tool for healing, storytelling, and education, JJ co-founded The Art of Becoming and co-authored the workbook The Art of Becoming: Self-Loving. Through these initiatives, she aims to empower others with the vital skill of self-love, using her art as a catalyst for personal growth and transformation.
