My Story
I'm JJ Typography (JJ Tintiangco | she/her), a self-taught digital artist and product designer specializing in typography, illustration, and user-centered design with a focus on wellness and accessibility. My passion for lettering and illustration started in childhood as a way to navigate undiagnosed dyslexia, transforming creativity into empowerment and self-discovery.
As a proud third-generation Filipina American 🇵🇭 raised on Kumeyaay Land (San Diego, CA), and influenced by my time on Ohlone Land (San Francisco-Bay Area), my background in Ethnic Studies shapes my approach to inclusive, culturally aware, and socially impactful design.
My Approach
to Design
I bring my creative vision to life using tools like Procreate, Canva, Figma, and the Adobe Suite to craft visually compelling and meaningful designs. My work blends bold, expressive typography with emotionally resonant illustrations that connect with diverse audiences.
Whether exploring themes of hip hop, social movements, ethnic studies, mental health, or self-love, I aim to create designs that inspire action and cultivate connection.
What I Offer
In addition to my design practice, I co-founded The Art of Becoming LLC and co-authored and illustrated The Art of Becoming: Self-Loving Coloring Workbook, a resource aimed at supporting mental well-being and personal development.
With a background in ethnic studies and healthcare, I approach design with empathy, cultural awareness, and a dedication to accessibility. Whether designing user-centered digital experiences or leading impactful projects, my work amplifies voices and builds meaningful connections.
