✨My Design Process

1. Exploration & Discovery

I begin by collaborating with clients to understand their vision, goals, and user needs. Through discussions and research, I gather key insights to inform a user-centered approach that aligns with accessibility and engagement goals.

2. Sketching & Ideation

I begin with hand-drawn sketches to explore initial concepts, ensuring a strong foundation rooted in creativity and accessibility. This phase allows for fluid exploration of ideas before moving to digital formats.

3. Digital Drafting

Once concepts are refined, I transition to digital tools to create structured layouts, refine typography, and enhance visual elements.

4. Iterative Feedback & Testing

Prototypes are shared with collaborators and users for feedback, allowing for iterative improvements to enhance usability and experience.

5. Final Design & Implementation

After refining based on feedback, the final designs are optimized for seamless usability and consistent branding across platforms.

🖌️ User-Centered Design Case Studies ✨

📌 Crafting thoughtful, accessible, and impactful design solutions that prioritize users, community, and innovation.

Case Study 1: 📓 Inclusive Wellness Workbook Design – The Art of Becoming: Self-Loving

📌 Designing an accessible, interactive, and healing-centered wellness workbook that fosters self-love, reflection, and emotional well-being.

💡 The Challenge

The Art of Becoming (AOB) aimed to create a self-love and mental wellness workbook that would be accessible, engaging, and inclusive for diverse communities. Many traditional wellness resources lacked cultural responsiveness and interactive elements that resonated with different learning styles and lived experiences.

The challenge was to design a user-centered workbook that:
🌱Provided a safe and creative space for self-reflection and healing
🌱 Integrated culturally responsive typography, illustration, and storytelling
🌱Ensured accessibility for users with different learning styles, neurodiversity, and backgrounds

🎨 The Solution

As the lead designer and illustrator, I developed a wellness workbook that prioritizes accessibility, engagement, and user-centered design. The workbook was intentionally crafted with:

Typography & Layout Considerations – Readable fonts, spacious layouts, and high-contrast designs for easy readability
Interactive & Guided Prompts – Thoughtfully designed journaling exercises to encourage emotional expression
Illustrations that Represent Diverse Identities – Hand-drawn artwork reflecting a wide range of lived experiences
Accessibility Features – Neurodivergent-friendly design, adaptable prompts, and clear, simple instructions

📝 The Process

🔍 Understanding the Audience

  • Conducted focus groups with educators, therapists, and community members to assess user needs

  • Identified barriers in existing wellness resources and developed design solutions for better engagement

🛠️ Prototyping & Iteration

  • Created low-fidelity mockups for early feedback

  • Integrated user feedback to refine content for clarity, inclusivity, and usability

Accessibility & Inclusive Design Considerations

  • Implemented age-inclusive typography and culturally responsive imagery

  • Designed modular layouts to support different learning speeds and engagement levels

🛠️ Editing & Iteration: Refining the Experience

After initial feedback, it became clear that the workbook needed:

Simplified and more intuitive layouts for better readability
More guided reflection prompts to provide structure for users who needed additional support
A workshop component to ensure the workbook was more than just a static resource—it became a shared learning experience

Through iterative testing, we refined the workbook to enhance both individual usability and group engagement, making it more effective in real-world applications.

Workbook Enhancements: Improved worksheet designs to maximize usability and engagement.

The gratitude page was refined to improve user experience by removing the grey halftone background, creating a distraction-free space for coloring and self-expression. Additionally, a clear definition of gratitude was added to the first page to provide context and support deeper engagement with the lesson content. These updates enhance usability and ensure a more immersive and meaningful experience for users.

Enhancing User Experience

Workshop Updates: Developed accessible and interactive workshop materials for various learning needs.

Improving Collaboration and Accessibility

The workshop materials were transitioned from Keynote to Canva to improve accessibility and collaboration, allowing team members to easily access and update content in real time. To enhance usability, animations were simplified to ensure key information remained visible, making the virtual experience more inclusive. Additionally, branding elements such as cohesive colors, typography, and logos were incorporated to create a consistent and professional look, reinforcing the core values of self-love and empowerment while enhancing participant engagement.

🎤 The Key Discovery: Accessibility Through Workshops

While the workbook was designed to be self-guided, user feedback revealed that pairing it with a workshop made the experience significantly more impactful.

Participants engaged most effectively when:
✔ They had guided discussions and shared reflections to deepen engagement
✔ Exercises were facilitated, creating a supportive, interactive environment
✔ The workbook became part of a collaborative learning space rather than just a personal tool

This insight led to the development of a structured workshop series, ensuring that the workbook could be used effectively in community wellness spaces, mental health programs, and classrooms.

📢 The Impact

My approach to accessible product design focuses on creating engaging experiences for wellness brands and mental health initiatives.

✅ Adopted by educators, therapists, and wellness practitioners for creative self-reflection
✅ Expanded AOB’s reach into clinical spaces, workshops, and community healing programs
✅ Participants reported feeling more confident, connected, and engaged with self-love practices
✅ Became a scalable tool for wellness professionals integrating creative healing into their work

📊 the Results

  • Achieved an impressive 90% positive feedback rate, with participants reporting deeper self-reflection and emotional growth through thoughtfully designed workbook elements, enhancing overall user satisfaction and retention.

  • Effectively adapted content to cater to diverse age ranges, enabling seamless engagement from early adolescence to adulthood. Workshops were designed to foster inclusivity, comprehension, and meaningful participation across all demographics.

  • Endorsed by therapists and educators as an effective mental wellness tool, demonstrating significant impact in clinical and educational settings by fostering emotional resilience and self-awareness.

  • Successfully introduced the workbook to a variety of communities—including mothers and their children, college students, and adults navigating life transitions—creating a lasting impact by promoting mental wellness and self-love across diverse cultural and social backgrounds.

  • Leveraging user feedback, refinements in design enhanced clarity, usability, and engagement—showcasing a dedication to innovation and meeting evolving user needs effectively.
